The Revenge of Shinobi (Ltd. Edition Mega Drive + PC-88 Double Pack)

When we first released The Revenge of Shinobi back in 2017, we sourced the audio from a Japanese Model 1 Mega Drive with great results. Since then, we've continued our longstanding partnership with composer Yuzo Koshiro and in 2021, he was able to locate and make new recordings from the original NEC PC-88 source files (the Japanese computer that he originally wrote the music on). This new source benefited from some improved sound quality, most notably in the percussion. He also found a previously unheard bonus track for us. We used this source for our digital edition later that year.

So, when the time came around for our next repress of The Revenge of Shinobi, we felt it was a good time to revisit and upgrade the audio on the vinyl edition too. This new edition is pressed on opaque grey vinyl, to distinguish it from the original Mega Drive edition. It now also includes the bonus track. It is presented as a 180g LP, cut at 45RPM and packed in a heavyweight single pocket sleeve, with a printed inner sleeve and an accompanying art print (same as previous pressings). Going forward, this will be our primary edition of this classic score.

However, before we retire the Mega Drive pressing, we are offering this VERY limited double LP package. This package includes both the Mega Drive and PC-88 editions of The Revenge of Shinobi (on 140g bone and 180g grey vinyl respectively) packaged together in one sleeve. This is a hand-numbered edition of only 150 copies.

Please note: This edition is restricted to one copy per person/household. Anyone caught trying to circumvent this rule will have their orders cancelled. All copies are packed in resealable overbags (not sealed in shrink wrap). The only differences between this and our new single LP edition is the inclusion of the original edition on 140g bone vinyl (packed in a black poly-lined inner sleeve) and the hand-numbering on the back cover. Be aware the audio differences between the Mega Drive source and PC-88 source are minimal (but worthwhile in our opinion). One for the collectors among you!
